One of this week’s marquee matchups in college football will feature the return of last year’s Heisman Trophy winner.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is expected to start against the Volunteers on Saturday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported during “College Gameday.”
Young suffered a sprain to his right (throwing) shoulder against Arkansas, and missed last week’s game against Texas A&M.
Widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL draft class, Young is hoping to lead the Crimson Tide to another victory over the Vols in this storied rivalry. Alabama has won their last 15 meetings over their SEC rivals, with Tennessee’s last victory in the series coming in 2006.
