The Washington Commanders have made it no secret they are looking for cornerbacks and offensive linemen in the 2023 NFL draft. Almost half of Washington’s formal visits at the NFL combine were with offensive linemen. The Commanders have also shown interest in multiple corners.
One of the draft’s most versatile defensive backs, Brian Branch of Alabama, will visit Ashburn as one of Washington’s top 30 visits.
The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Branch is a first-round prospect and has multiple visits lined up, per Aaron Wilson.

Branch’s versatility makes him an appealing option for the Commanders. A three-year starter at Alabama, Branch was a consensus All-American in 2022. During his time in Tuscaloosa, Branch played safety and cornerback. While Washington likes its safeties, Branch offers the type of versatility to line up all over the secondary.
Branch will be knocked for his 40 time [4.58 seconds], but his football IQ, toughness, experience, versatility and character make him a player to watch for the Commanders.
