Joe Biden confirmed Ayman al-Zawahri had been killed

US President Joe Biden has confirmed al Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri has been killed in a US drone strike in Afghanistan.

He said he hoped the killing of al-Zawahri brought “one more measure of closure” to families of the victims of the September 11 2001 attacks on the United States.
