As a former fashion designer, the Prime Minister’s wife is an expert in luxury loungewear.
Akshata Murty, 42, was spotted hopping out of her car and walking back to Downing Street in a pair of on-trend JW Anderson suede slippers. The Indian heiress lives at Number 10 with Rishi Sunak and their two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka, who Murty was dropping off yesterday morning at their private school.
The all-girls school has annual fees costing £22,350 and offers after-school activities including netball, computer coding, and classes by a ballet school, with David and Victoria Beckham’s daughter Harper also a pupil there.
Murty paired the chain-detailing, shearling-lined slippers with black ribbed leggings and a black leather jacket with fur lining, making it chic yet comfortable school-run attire.
Considering Murty holds £430 million in shares in her family’s multi-billion pound IT business Infosys — making her richer than King Charles — the £570 price tag for the durable slippers hardly broke the bank. However, she’s also no stranger to the high street, having been photographed wearing a fur gilet from H&M paired with slippers from the White Company last October, shortly after moving into Number 10.
As the family continue to settle into their new residence, expect plenty more off-duty looks from the UK’s first lady.
