Akon has left fans furious after he defended Kanye West who told conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that he "liked Hitler".
The rapper has been accused of "spitting in the face of Jewish people" during the insulting interview on Sky News.
He was asked to explain why he continued to back Ye, who said he "sees good things about Hitler".
The Lonely hitmaker said: "I show support for opinion and I think people will always have a specific opinion and I think the moment we get to the place where we close our minds up to other people's opinion, it kind of doesn't allow us to get to better know each other.
"I think sometimes we should open up our minds and let things play all the way out and better understand the situation."
He explained that he supports the "right to believe what you want to believe", but said "communication is key".
He continued: "Not really because those comments don't really affect me personally... and if it does affect you personally then find a way to actually respond in a way to where that conversation can be reciprocated."
"Those comments don't really affect me personally... and if it does affect you personally then find a way to actually respond in a way to where that conversation can be reciprocated."
His comments sparked fury with viewers with some calling them "appalling", "shocking" and "absolutely vile".
"Those comments don't affect him personally?! ... That is spitting in the face of Jewish people everywhere. Hate is hate, not an opportunity for learning."
"This is so disgusting, he is making excuses for Nazis apologists with a smile on his face, how can anybody give people platforms to speak about it and relay Nazi ideology?!"
Although one defended Akon and wrote that his "goal to listen to people" was "admirable", but added that "what Kanye said was wrong, full stop."
Kanye made the disturbing comments during an interview where he wore a black fabric mask that covered his face.
"I see good things about Hilter... every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler," Kanye said.
He later said that the Nazi's had a "really good leader at one point" and even denied Hitler's involvement in the death of six million Jewish people.

"He didn't kill six million Jews. That's just factually incorrect," Kanye said.
"I'm not trying to be shocking. I like Hitler. The Holocaust is not what happened... Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities," he added.
Even host Alex was clearly shocked by Kanye's rant.
The Mirror has approached Akon's representatives for comment.
