Akash Thakur named Angola coach to become fourth from Nagpur at Chess Olympiad

NAGPUR: Akash Thakur will be the fourth city master to make his presence felt in the 44th Fide Chess Olympiad, slated to be played in Chennai from July 28 to August 10. The 40-year-old Thakur, who is also a Fide Master (FM), has been appointed as the trainer of Angola national women's team for the 14-day Olympiad scheduled to be inaugurated at Mahabalipuram on July 27.

While city's first Grandmaster (GM) Raunak Sadhwani and Women Grandmaster (WGM) Divya Deshmukh have been selected in the Indian team, Swapnil Bansod is a member of the arbiters' team.
