Lanarkshire teenager killed in Fife road collision at weekend

An Airdrie teenager has died following a road collision near Dunfermline on Saturday night.

Shane Dickson, who was just 15, was tragically killed in the three-vehicle collision on the A985 near the Fife village of Cairneyhill.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.50pm on Saturday, March 5, after two cars, a coach and pedestrian Shane were involved in the collision.

Police said: “The vehicles had all been travelling eastbound when the 15-year-old pedestrian was struck by the coach. It has been established that none of the vehicles collided with one another.”

Shane was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The road was closed for around eight hours to allow a full collision investigation to take place. Officers continue to appeal for information.

Sergeant Colin Morrison told Lanarkshire Live: “Our thoughts go out to Shane’s family and friends.

“Although this happened late in the evening, we are appealing to anyone with any information surrounding the crash to come forward and speak to police.

“If you were driving in the area at the time and have any dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation, please come forward.”

Police can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident 4335 of Saturday, March 5.
