Airdrie sign striker as 'reward' for hard work in their Academy set-up

Airdrie have strengthened their squad by calling up striker Bright Prince from their Academy set-up.

The 17-year-old signed in July following a trial, and after bagging 11 goals in 13 games for the young side, he has made the step-up.

Airdrie beat Hearts to the Spanish-Nigerian striker's signature in the summer, and he has some pedigree, having come through Getafe's youth set-up, and spent time in Germany with clubs like Fortuna Dusseldorf and KFC Uerdingen.

Bright Osemudiamen Prince Okosum, or Bright Prince for short, told the club's website: "You should be delighted if you're good enough and you work hard enough to step up to men's football.

"Having played so many games and scored so many goals for the Academy gives you that burst of confidence that I probably need for the step up to first-team football.

"I'm delighted to be here and that the work-rate I've given has been rewarded."

Boss Rhys McCabe said: "Bright has done really well, as have a lot of the younger lads.

"He has good attributes, in terms of offering something a little bit different to what we already have.

"Being in and around the first-team environment on a daily basis and learning from older pros will help Bright in the long-term, and in the short-term, his signing helps to bolster the squad."
