An Airdrie woman in hospital for heart surgery has slammed the "disgusting" meals she was served which left her having to fork out on ordering in meals instead.
Catherine Murphy also claims she was kept on a "dirty" ward during her hospital stay. The 54-year-old took pictures of some of the food she was served which included shepherd's pie and macaroni cheese, which she described as “slop”.
Catherine said she had to order in her own meals and believes no heart patient should have been served the dishes offered at the hospital.

She told the Record: “I have never seen food like it. It was disgusting. It cost me a fortune to get food brought in.”
Catherine had been taken in to Monklands Hospital and was there for six days before being transferred to Hairmyres, in East Kilbride, where she had a pacemaker fitted.
She added: “I was taken in to the acute medicine recovery unit at first and put in a room on my own which was dirty.”
Catherine, a mum of three, said there were “spit marks” in the glass on the door.
She added: “I wasn’t expecting the Ritz but I was expecting it to be clean.”
NHS Lanarkshire’s Judith Park, said: “Our menus try to incorporate dishes for everyone but unfortunately, we recognise what we offer does not suit every patient.”
Health Secretary Michael Matheson added: “We have taken a range of action to improve food standards in hospitals which health boards have to comply with.”
