Airdrie hero Lewis Jamieson insists Peterhead draw isn't good enough

Airdrie hero Lewis Jamieson's late strike snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat against Peterhead - and says it's not good enough against League One's basement side.

The on-loan St Mirren striker insists his side didn't meet the high standards they set themselves as they fought back from Jason Brown's 33rd-minute opener on Saturday.

Jamieson swivelled to smash the ball into the net with two minutes left, bagging his sixth goal in four games and stretching Airdrie's unbeaten run to three, but says they wanted the win.

He said: “That’s six in four for me and that’s good for me personally, obviously, to look at, but at the end of the day we didn’t come away with three points.

“It was good character from the lads in the second half to come out and get the draw at the end of the game – but for our standards and where we want to be, it’s not good enough.

“It didn’t look like it was going to happen. We hustled and tussled, and fair play to Peterhead, they came down, got the goal, and had something to hold onto.

“It made it ten times harder for ourselves but we have to keep grinding.

“We know it’s not always going to be pretty football, but thankfully we got the goal.

“That’s a three-game unbeaten run and momentum is huge – we found that out in the negative way when we were in the rut a few weeks ago.

“But we need to keep going, keep picking up points, and hope other results go our way.”
