Airdrie boss Ian Murray says the 1-1 draw was all that mattered as his side set a new club record of 20 games unbeaten at New Broomfield this afternoon.
Murray, who was sitting the game out due to suspension, admitted he made seven changes with a view to Tuesday's Championship play-off semi-final first leg at Montrose, but they still got over the line to close the league campaign.
Airdrie's play-off destiny is now in their own hands, and though they were far from their best against Peterhead this afternoon, Murray was still pleased.
He said: "The result is all that matters. We kind of felt we had it, because the previous record was over two seasons, but it's a great record, to beat the one from Sandy Stewart's title-winning side [in 2004].
"The result is all that matters. To surpass the record is satisfying for this group of players, for myself and the staff, and also the football club.
“But records are there to be broken, maybe one day our record will be broken as well, but we want to keep that going now, and get to 21 on Tuesday night.
“It was a bit sticky in the first half, I didn’t feel we played very well, we were too rushed going forward and not patient enough in the final third.
“But we were also too slow at the back, not moving the ball quickly enough, so that was frustrating for myself."
Murray added: "The players were eager to impress in the game, end of season matches are very difficult, and you could say we had more to lose than Peterhead.
“We were going for that record, but fair play to Peterhead, they’re in a decent run and they've had a right few games undefeated in the last few weeks.
"We had changed formation at half-time to a 4-1-3-2 to try and get us back into the game. Obviously the own-goal was a bit different and the penalty miss obviously helps us.
"We made seven changes today, fully with an eye on Tuesday, we had to give boys a rest and give guys game-time, so it was pretty much horses for courses."
