Ian Murray admits Airdrie's humbling of Falkirk should serve as a reminder that a lot can happen in a season as he claimed the Bairns celebrated "like they'd won the league" when beating his side earlier in the campaign.
In August Falkirk inflicted a 2-1 defeat at New Broomfield and the Bairns' exuberant celebrations so early in the season didn't go unnoticed by the Diamonds boss.
Falkirk were one of the favourites for the title before a ball was kicked, but they find themselves in fifth spot, six points off the play-offs, and well out of contention for automatic promotion following a season of managerial changes and behind the scenes upheaval.
And it's something that hasn't been lost on Murray following today's thumping 4-1 win at the Falkirk Stadium, which backed up a 3-0 triumph there in October. Airdrie also won 3-2 at home in January.
Murray said: "Every game in this league is very difficult so to come here and beat a team who fancied themselves at the start of the season is great.
"The way they celebrated when they beat us 2-1 earlier in the season, they probably thought they'd won the league.
"Obviously that wasn't the case and they are now struggling for the play-offs.
"I don't take any glee out of that - that was just the feeling we had.
"It's a long season, you've got to play teams four times and we've now managed seven goals here in two games - and there won't be many teams that have done that."
Falkirk fans left the stadium early with their side 3-1 down and those that hung around for full-time booed their side off the park, while Airdrie fans gave their players a fantastic reception.
Murray added: "Without going overboard about it, our last performance here was good but that today was excellent.
"We controlled the whole game.
"The early goal helps everyone settle down and the second sucks the energy out of the place and gives our fans renewed energy.
"Full credit to the players, all of them to a man were outstanding."
