AIRCRAFT carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has arrived in Scotland for a logistics stop.
The 65,000-tonne vessel has returned to Glenmallan in Argyll and Bute.
It comes after the Royal Navy flagship made an unexpected return to Portsmouth amid speculation that it is in need of urgent repairs.
HMS Queen Elizabeth was on deployment as the UK Carrier Strike Group flagship after being deployed in September.
Construction of HMS Queen Elizabeth began in 2009 with six shipyards around the UK involved in building different sections which were then transported to Rosyth dockyard to be assembled.
We’ve left our taskgroup behind as we draw NEPTUNE STRIKE to a close. We’ve achieved a lot of firsts, gained valuable insight and training, and demonstrated our capabilities. Onward to beautiful Scotland! 🏴#KingsFlagship #StrongerTogether @STRIKFORNATO pic.twitter.com/HpFGO6uS27
