A family has been left flabbergasted after they found an old picture of themselves in a random Airbnb.
TikTok user Aubree Birrell shared a video July 2 that showed her and her sister’s shocked reactions to the discovery after arriving at their family’s rented vacation home in Oceanside, California.
In the video, Birrell and her sister said they were admiring the large decorative canvas hanging on the wall, which showed a crowd of people enjoying the beach — but then they looked further and recognized their own family members in the picture.
“We're looking at this picture, and my dad is like, ‘This looks like me,’” Birrell recalled in the video, saying that she initially did not understand her dad before realizing he was right.
“This is my dad,” she pointed out. “That's my sister, Libby, from 10 years ago, and that's Brady, my brother, 10 years ago.”

Birrell’s sister, Libby, added in disbelief, “We have those swimsuits. We are literally in this picture. We are on our Airbnb wall.”
Speaking to Storyful about the surprising find, Birrell said that her family could not believe what they saw — and is still confused about it.
“We arrived at the Airbnb,” she told the outlet. “On the fifth floor, across from my room, was a picture of the beach. My dad jokes saying, ‘If I were in the painting, I’d be this person,’ as he pointed to himself.”
She continued: “That was my dad, my sister, Libby, and my brother Brady.”
“We could tell the swimsuits were theirs, and it was truly them! We could even place when the picture was taken!” she said. “I could not believe it. Insane that it was in our Airbnb. I would love to know who or how someone got that picture.”
Social media users were just as shocked by Birrell’s story as the family was.
“Proof we live in a simulation,” one person wrote on TikTok. Another wrote on Instagram, “Maybe I’m paranoid but I’d leave immediately.”
Another joked, “hospitality taken to the next level.”
Others took to the comments to share their own stories of wild coincidences.
“I once checked into a hotel at the beach, in the middle of a thunderstorm. I grabbed a newspaper to hold over my head. When I got to the room, I looked at the paper and there was a pic of my mom and I on the front page. It was from a festival in the beach town, 3 years before!” one commenter shared.
Another wrote: “My friend and her mom went to an antique store in Pennsylvania and found her mom's elementary school book with her mom's signature from when she was a child in CHILE. That's one of the craziest things I've ever heard but yours too for sure.”
