Air traffic control issue sparks fresh flight delays at UK airports

  • Passengers travelling through several major UK airports are facing fresh flight delays and disruptions on Monday morning due to air traffic control issues .
  • The National Air Traffic Services (Nats) confirmed that engineers are currently on site investigating a problem in Prestwick, Scotland, with safety regulations being applied to restrict traffic flow while the issue is being resolved.
  • The disruption has impacted operations across multiple regional hubs, including Manchester Airport, Belfast City Airport, Belfast International Airport, Glasgow Airport, and Aberdeen Airport.
  • According to Nats, this latest fault is entirely unrelated to the major software defect experienced less than two weeks ago, which led to widespread cancellations and delayed over 2,000 flights.
  • Airlines have warned travellers to expect ongoing disruption, and passengers are advised to check the status of their flights directly with their carriers before travelling to the airport.
