A person has been rescued from the River Thames after emergency services rushed to the scene — including an air ambulance that landed near the Tower of London.

The individual was seen struggling in the water close to Tower Millennium Pier, which is regularly used by Uber Boat by Thames Clippers services.

Witnesses looked on as the air ambulance landed at around 10.15am this morning.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9:47am today (26 October) to reports of person in the River Thames at Tower Pier, Tower Hill.

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in four minutes. Our crews assisted our emergency services partners at the scene, before taking the patient to a London major trauma centre as a priority.”

Tower Pier reopened around an hour later at 11.17am.
