Tuesday was a momentous day for Mizoram football with the culmination of Mizoram Premier League (MPL) that saw the emergence of a new champion in Chawnpui FC. And to make the occasion even more special, chief guest at the summit clash, All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Kalyan Chaubey, spoke of AIFF’s intent to develop the sport in the eight states of the northeast.
“We’ll look to work with the state government and MFA (Mizoram Football Association) in exploring to set up a high performance centre here in Mizoram. If the government is ready and willing, AIFF is ready for technical support,” Chaubey said during a press conference in Aizawl on Tuesday.
