VIJAYAWADA: All India Agriculture and Rural Labour Association (AIARLA) demanded that the centre should take back the anti-rural labour changes being brought in NREGA. The association had also deplored the silence of the mainstream political parties in the state-YSRCP, TDP and Janasena about the proposed changes in the Act. Rural labour from various districts of Andhra Pradesh staged a protest in Vijayawada on Monday demanding the repeal of anti-labour changes being brought in NREGA.
Addressing the gathering, social activist and senior researcher from 'Lib-Tech India,' Budha Chakradhar said that the central government is pressurising the state governments to bring upon the changes in NREGA scheme and the both the Telugu states have started implementing the changes since November and December 2021 without a single word of protest.
