AHMEDABAD: City police officers on Friday said they have foiled several attempted cyber attacks by hackers from Indonesia and Malaysia - part of a cyberwar effort against India - to compromise government websites and steal crucial data, ostensibly as revenge for the statements on Prophet Muhammad by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.
A police statement said after the Nupur Sharma controversy emerged, two entities, 'Dragon Force' from Malaysia and 'Hacktivists of Garuda' from Indonesia, called for Muslim hackers around the world to start a cyberwar against India and Indian people. One such call was circulated widely on social media among such hacker groups, it said.
