Leicestershire quarrying giant and building materials supplier Aggregate Industries has signed up as a key sponsor of this year’s Leicester Pride parade which takes place on Saturday, September 3.
The sponsorship will see the business, which is based near Coalville, set up a stand at the event and members of the team will be on hand to discuss the careers available across the business, the company’s approach to inclusivity, and its Hi Viz LGBTQ+ Network.
They will also be running activities, handing out merchandise, and showcasing a special Pride-branded truck, while staff members will join the parade and give out branded t-shirts, hard hats, and banners.
A spokeswoman said: “The sponsorship of Leicester Pride forms part of Aggregate Industries continued focus on equality, diversity and inclusion within the business.
“Part of its recent ED&I strategy, the business has introduced its ‘Hi Viz’ LGBTQ+ Affinity Group which aims to build a progressive and inclusive workplace, where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves every day.”
She said Hi Viz had created a thriving and growing community of allies and ambassadors across the business. It creates a safe and welcoming environment for all employees who identify as LGBTQ+ and those who simply support equal rights for all. It also acts as a voice for LGBTQ+ employees within Aggregate Industries as well as driving change by continuing to educate, raise awareness and up-skill colleagues.
Aggregate Industries HR director James Roberts said: “As one of the Leicestershire’s largest based businesses, we’re delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Leicester Pride event, and continuing to increase visibility of the LGBTQ+ community within Aggregate Industries and the wider construction industry.
“It’s set to be a fantastic and fun day, and we’re looking forward to representing our Hi Viz Affinity Group at the event and speaking to people who may be interested in a career in the construction industry.”
