Agent speaks out as 'talks' take place over Nottingham Forest transfer

Defender Loic Bade has been linked with a January move after struggling to force his way into contention at Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old made the switch to the City Ground in the summer on a season-long loan from Rennes, with the Reds holding an option to sign him permanently. However, he has found himself down the pecking order and is yet to get on the pitch for Steve Cooper’s side.

His parent club are said to be ready to recall him next month. And reports in Spain have suggested Sevilla are interested in taking him for the second half of the season.

Agent's hint

The agent of Nottingham Forest-linked Walid Cheddira says “many clubs” are eyeing up the forward ahead of January.

The 24-year-old has been in sparkling form for Bari in Serie B. And he is part of the Morocco squad which is in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Reports in Italy have suggested the Reds are keen on bringing him to the Premier League as they plot reinforcements in the January window. Tottenham Hotspur and Watford have also been credited with an interest, as have Lazio and Napoli.

In a translated interview, Cheddira’s agent, Bruno di Napoli, told 1 Station Radio (via LazioNews24): “The boy is owned by Bari. He is being watched by many clubs because of his characteristics as a modern striker. We will evaluate his next step with the club and president De Laurentiis, one step at a time certain objectives are achieved.”

Blackburn blow

Blackburn Rovers will be without defender Callum Brittain for next week’s Carabao Cup clash with Nottingham Forest after he picked up an injury at the weekend.

Unlike the Premier League, Championship clubs returned to action last weekend after a shorter break for the World Cup. Blackburn hosted local rivals Preston North End at Ewood Park, but it was a return to forget for the home side.

Forest have a bit longer until they return to action as they make the journey to Blackburn in the League Cup on Wednesday, December 21. That game comes just six days before the Reds travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the Premier League.

Goals from Ben Woodburn, Ched Evans (x2) and Ben Whiteman saw them fall to a 4-1 defeat. The match also saw Brittain substituted with a knee injury in just the seventh minute after the right-back was unable to continue.

Fans' response

Nottingham Forest supporters have responded after Steve Cooper emerged as a potential candidate to take over as England boss, should Gareth Southgate step down from the job.

Since England's elimination from the World Cup quarter-final against France, there have been doubts over Southgate's future. Olivier Giroud scored the winning goal as Harry Kane missed the chance to equalise from the penalty spot.

Speaking after the game, the Three Lions manager said he needed time to make a decision over his future. "I want to make the right decision either way because it has to be the right one to go again, or the right one not to go again and I don't think tonight [Saturday] is the time to make a decision like that," he said. "Neither are the next few days really."

In the SkyBet odds, Cooper has been placed at 16/1 to take over, while Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is placed at 8/1, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe at 10/1 and Chelsea manager Graham Potter at 12/1.
