Lucas Torreira's agent Pablo Bentancur has revealed that Arsenal were angry after missing out on Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window.
The Gunners had identified Vlahovic as their primary target to replace exiled-former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last month, with fellow-strikers Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette also into the final five months of their respective deals at the Emirates Stadium.
However, as reported by football.london, the player always preferred a move to a top Serie A club before he eventually sealed a £63million transfer to Juventus - leaving technical director Edu frustrated, according to Bentancur.
"Now, Arsenal are a bit angry because they wanted Vlahovic," he told Sport890 via the Daily Star.
"Fiorentina wanted to sell him, but the agents said he had to go to Juventus."
Arsenal fans will be frustrated to find out that the Serbian international's agent pushed for a move to the Italian giants and it is not the first time that the north Londoners lost out on a target to the Turin-based side.
Manager Mikel Arteta was said to be keen on Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli over the summer before The Old Lady swooped in, with the player reportedly turning down a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali revealed: "Locatelli is so far the player bought at the highest price in Serie A this summer.
“Arsenal offered us €40m, but Locatelli’s will was to go only to Juventus and we did everything to please him.
"A request, that of Arsenal, which cost us something…"
The Gunners will hope that they can qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season to help convince top players to make the move to the English capital this summer.
