The agent of Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir has dismissed speculation linking his client with a move to Leeds United. According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Leeds, Sevilla and Newcastle United are all keen on acquiring his services this summer.
Cakir is currently the club captain of Trabzonspor, who are currently 13 points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig. He has started all but two of their league matches this season as they bid to win the league for the first time since 1984.
Should he arrive at Leeds, Cakir would provide current first choice Illan Meslier with some added competition. The France U21 international has started every game in all competitions for Leeds this season and so a more experienced deputy could arrive this summer.

Kristoffer Klaesson was brought in as Kiko Casilla’s replacement at Elland Road last summer, though has taken some time to settle in at Elland Road. Despite reports linking Cakir with a move to Leeds, though, his agent Necdet Cakir has disregarded those stories from the Turkish press. He did, however, claim that his client could be interested in a move across Europe in the summer.
Speaking to Ajansspor, he said: “Up until now there has been no offer from Leeds United. As you know Cakir is focused on winning the league with Trabzonspor.
“It is a great honour for Ugurcan to be the captain of Trabzonspor and to serve in the national team. Ugurcan’s only current goal is to become a champion at Trabzonspor. When he completes his mission in Trabzonspor, he wants to go to Europe if he can.”
