Agent of Ajax star Antony 'negotiating' with Manchester United and more transfer rumours

Reports in Brazil have suggested Manchester United could be making moves for Ajax star Antony.

The forward is just one of a number of past and present Ajax players linked to United, as Erik ten Hag gets down to work on his squad for next season. Frenkie de Jong and Jurrien Timber are of course already on his list of targets, and it's claimed Antony could be joining the pair.

The Brazilian has caught the eye with his performances over the past 18 months in Amsterdam, helping Ajax to back-to-back Eredivisie titles. He’s expected to be part of his national team’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar later this year, and reports suggest he might have made his way to Old Trafford by that point.

Goal Brasil claim Antony's agents are travelling to Europe to negotiate a deal with United, and say there is mutual interest between the club and player over a potential move. Ajax are claimed to have proposed a fee of around £50million, with Antony’s former club Sao Paulo set to get a sell-on fee as part of the deal. With United searching for new options in attack, the 22-year-old could provide an option on the right wing, which has proven to be a problem area.

Meanwhile, United are being linked with a surprise move for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The former Arsenal star has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, and is being touted for a move away this summer.

Moves directly between United and their rivals very rarely happen, with famous instances of some players having transfers to either club blocked. With that in mind, it seems unlikely Oxlade-Chamberlain will be making the move to Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, talkSPORT suggest United are mulling over a move for the 28-year-old as they look for new midfield options. Liverpool are said to be willing to accept £10million for the England international, with United ‘seriously interested’ in signing him.
