Agent name-drops Newcastle United as possible destination for Marcos Senesi

Newcastle United have been name-checked by the agent of Marcos Senesi as a potential destination for the Feyenoord defender this summer. The centre-back, 25, continues to be linked with a transfer after impressing in the Eredivisie.

Leeds United, Everton and clubs from Italy have been touted as possible destinations for Senesi, while Newcastle were tentatively mentioned back in January. The player's agent, Danilo Caravello, says links with the Magpies are unsurprising due to the spending power of English clubs.

“Marcos is a strong player, an Argentine international,” Caravello told Serie A News. “The big obstacle remains the price tag, as dealing with the Dutch is never easy.

"Senesi is a player that many teams pay attention to. But, in the end, nothing ever materialises. Either the economic solution is not found, or there is not all a desire to sell him.

“On the interest of Newcastle, certain rumours do not surprise me. Especially if we consider his value. Surely, if the English clubs want him, they’ll get him. They have a higher economic power than the other leagues.”

Newcastle look to have finished strengthening their defence as attention turns to the other end of the pitch. Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his side with two more attacking options before the end of the summer.

Moussa Diaby remains a top target while interest has now emerged in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak. The Swede, 22, would be a welcomed addition at St. James' Park but it would take a record bid to steal him from Spain.

Meanwhile, reported Real Madrid target Marco Asensio looks set to stay in the Spanish capital and Everton have announced they will not be selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle or any other club this summer. Howe wants an attacker brought in by August 6 when Nottingham Forest visit for the Premier League opener.
