Agent details Leeds United interest in 'highest standard' 21-year-old Serie A defender

Mario Giuffredi, agent to 21-year-old Empoli left-back Fabiano Parisi, has confirmed interest from Leeds United after the club failed to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Leeds signed left-back Junior Firpo just last season but calls for another player in the position have been building after poor form and fitness, meaning the Whites were looking at Parisi as a replacement.

Having made his Serie A debut this season, Parisi has helped Empoli in five league appearances this season, scoring once and helping his team keep one clean sheet.

In an interview with Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, Giuffredi revealed that the club had a lot of interest from a variety of clubs from many different countries, including the Yorkshire side.

“Yes, the last few days of the market have been very hectic. I consider him a great team player, he can be the transfer man for January or for the summer.

“He is of the highest standard. He can aspire to important goals. We had many clubs, from Atalanta to Turin to Fiorentina, Leeds and Nice, also in agreement with Empoli we decided to wait.”

Parisi was a key member in both Avellino's promotion from Serie D to Serie C in the 2018/19 season before signing a three-year contract with Empoli in the Serie B. He then was instrumental in helping them reach the Serie A for the first time in his career last season.
