Tottenham have held talks with Napoli over a potential deal for Giovani Lo Celso, a member of the player’s entourage has claimed.
Reports in Italy suggest the Italian champions want to secure a loan move for the Argentine midfielder, with the option of a permanent transfer inserted into the deal.
However, Spurs are said to prefer an outright sale or a loan with obligation to buy with their price tag said to be in the £17million region.
“They are talking about it, but at the moment nothing is agreed,” the unnamed agent is quoted by Italian network Radio Punto Nuovo as saying.
Lo Celso starred in Spurs’ friendly defeat to West Ham on Tuesday, coming off the bench to score on Ange Postecoglou’s first game in charge.
Tottenham pundit Clive Allen was among those to praise the 27-year-old’s display.
He told the club broadcast of the game: “I thought Lo Celso was a real bright spark. I know he scored the goal but right from the start of the second half he was outstanding.”
