Immigration lawyers say scrutiny around marriage-based Green Card applications in US has tightened in recent months, with applicants facing closer checks during interviews and increased enforcement action even at the interview stage. Marriage remains one of the most common routes to permanent residency, but attorneys warn that the process is now being examined more closely than before.
According to immigration attorney Douglas Lightman of Lightman Law Firm LLC in New York, “Getting a green card through marriage is one of the most common pathways to lawful permanent residence in the United States. It also is one of the fastest routes to permanent residence, with some applicants receiving approval in as little as 9 to 15 months.”
