Two-time Geelong best and fairest winner Amy McDonald has been handed a one-match AFLW ban for a dangerous dump tackle on Essendon's Steph Cain.

Cain landed awkwardly on her neck in the tackle, but was able to play on.

The incident was careless, medium impact and high contact, resulting in a one-match ban.

If the Cats decide against appealing, McDonald will miss Saturday's clash with West Coast at Ikon Park.

Carlton's two-time All-Australian Elise O'Dea was also handed a one-match ban for striking St Kilda's Hannah Priest.

It was assessed as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.

Unless the charge can be overturned or downgraded, O'Dea will miss Friday's match against Richmond.

Richmond's Meagan Kiely, GWS's Alyce Parker and Collingwood's Ruby Schleicher can all escape with reprimands from incidents from last round.
