A delegation from the Afghan Taliban is travelling to Brussels on Tuesday for closed-door talks with European Union staff, expected to focus on deportations, a Taliban official said.
The discussions come as Afghans represent one of the largest groups of asylum seekers in the EU. A growing number of member states are pushing to accelerate and increase the deportation of those whose claims are rejected or who have committed crimes.
