Afghan humanitarian crisis: Hospitals face shortages of staff, medicine and funding

Six months after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the health system is collapsing. Amid the deteriorating humanitarian situation, a raging measles outbreak has already killed more than 150 people and infected tens of thousands more in January alone. Measles is not the only sanitary threat facing young children in the country. FRANCE 24's Health Editor Julia Sieger tells us more.

Meanwhile, schools and colleges in the southern Indian state of Karnataka recently banned the hijab, or headscarf. Muslim students were outraged, while Hindu nationalists held counter-protests supporting the ban. Secularism is a cornerstone of India's constitution, but in recent years, the line between the state and religion has become blurred under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Finally, New Zealand's capital was hit this week by a demonstration against Covid-19 restrictions. As it stretched on day after day, authorities became desperate to disperse the protesters. They even blasted music including "Baby Shark", the "Macarena" and Frozen's "Let It Go". So did it make the demonstrators sing to a different tune? We've been finding out.
