AFC East Week 10 recap and standings: Dolphins win during bye week

Week 10 brought another slate of NFL games that included some entertaining duels and some surprising upsets across the league.

After 10 weeks, the AFC East still has just one team at the top of the division – the Miami Dolphins at 6-3.

Mike McDaniel’s team may have been off this week, but they were the big winners in the division, as they kept their lead over the three other teams. That’s huge considering they still have three in-division battles remaining.

The second-place Buffalo Bills fell to the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, making it two in a row for Sean McDermott’s team. Four turnovers kept Josh Allen and company from dominating as they should against a team that Miami scored 70 points on earlier in the year. Now, with a 5-5 record, the Bills have a lot of work to do if they want to win the division or even make the playoffs at this point.

Robert Saleh’s third-place New York Jets dropped their second in a row this weekend, as they were defeated by the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Neither team was overly impressive in the contest, but Josh Jacobs did rush for over 100 yards and a touchdown on 4.3 yards per carry against a defense that’s supposed to be leading them to wins. Zach Wilson is still a problem for New York’s offense, and it doesn’t look like they’re making a quarterback change any time soon.

The same can’t be said for the bottom-of-the-division New England Patriots, who were embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday. Mac Jones threw one of the worst interceptions you’ll see in the fourth quarter, resulting in the quarterback’s benching. Then, backup Bailey Zappe, with a chance to drive down the field and win the game, faked a spike and threw a ball into triple coverage that was intercepted to end the game. They have a bye week coming up, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Jones benched going forward.

Week 11 AFC East matchups:

  • Miami Dolphins (6-3) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (5-5)
  • Buffalo Bills (5-5) vs. New York Jets (4-5)
  • BYE WEEK: Patriots
