Aerosmith have revealed that they will go on tour for the last time ever, leaving fans completely shocked.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced the news of the tour on Monday, sharing tour dates and locations, but also shared that it would be their farewell tour, titled "Peace Out."
They shared the news on Twitter, writing: "PEACE OUT! After 50 years, 10 world tours, and playing for over 100 million fans... It's time for one last go!"
The tour is set to start in September in Philadelphia and will run for 40-dates with a stop in the band's hometown of Boston on New Years' Eve.
Aerosmith's last ever performance will take place in Montreal, Canada on January 26th 2024.
Joe Perry, the band's guitarist said: "I think it's about time," before adding that it's the best time to say goodbye as the oldest member of the group, Steven Tyler is 75, and it would be better to tour with the every founding member.
“It’s kind of a chance to celebrate the 50 years we’ve been out here,” Perry said. “You never know how much longer everybody’s going to be healthy to do this. … It’s been a while since we’ve actually done a real tour. We did that run in Vegas, which was great. It was fun, but (we’re) kind of anxious to get back on the road.“
Joe added that the group, consisting of frontman Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford had picked up more skills for their upcoming tour from the staging and production of their recent Las Vegas residency shows.
In a joint statement, the band said: “It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
In a statement, Tyler said: “We’re opening up Pandora’s Box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out tour.
“Be there or beware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready.”
The band said drummer Kramer will not take part in the upcoming tour as he continues to focus his attention on his family and health, with John Douglas continuing to take his place.
Aerosmith, formed in Boston in 1970, and are one of the most popular acts of all time, with 150 million records sold around the world.
In 2001, they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and performed the Super Bowl halftime show, and have collected four Grammys during their time together.
