Grammy Award-winning rock band Aerosmith is pulling the plug on live performances, announcing a farewell tour across North America.
They have dubbed the farewell tour Peace Out and released a breaking news video featuring stars such as Dolly Parton, Eminem, Ringo Starr and comedian Bill Burr.
There will be 40 shows, beginning in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 2 and wrapping up in Montreal, Canada on January 26.
Guitarist Joe Perry said it was time to say goodbye.
"I think it's about time," Perry said.
"It's kind of a chance to celebrate the 50 years we've been out here.
"You never know how much longer everybody's going to be healthy to do this."
Each of the founding members of the band is over 70.
The group consists of Perry, frontman Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford.
Kramer did not join the band during their recent Las Vegas residency and is not joining the farewell tour either in order to focus on his "family and health".
Drummer John Douglas will continue to play in his place.
The band is behind rock classics such as I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Livin' on the Edge and Janie's Got a Gun and intersected rock and rap when they collaborated with Run-DMC for Walk This Way.
Aerosmith formed in 1970. They have four Grammys and performed the Super Bowl half-time show in 2001, a year in which they were also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Could the farewell tour bring the band to Australia?
It is unlikely but possible.
Perry said national and international cities could be added.
"It's the final farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while," he said.
"But I don't know how many times we'll be coming back to the same cities.
"It could very possibly be the last time."
