Aerial footage shows destruction left by floods and landslides that killed over 400 in Indonesia

Rescuers in Indonesia are continuing efforts to reach areas affected by floods and landslides that have killed more than 400 people, with the number expected to rise as more bodies are recovered.

In Aceh Province on Sunday aid and equipment were delivered by helicopter.

A video released by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency shows aerial footage of Aceh Tamiang district, where entire neighbourhoods are submerged under a vast expanse of brown water.

Roads that once bustled with traffic now resemble canals, clogged with stranded vehicles and uprooted trees.

The deluges triggered landslides, damaged roads, cut off parts of the island, and downed communication lines.
