Aer Lingus queues leave fuming passenger with missed flight before unexpected twist

A passenger heading through Dublin Airport in recent days took to Twitter in a rage saying they were allegedly refused a boarding pass after hours of queuing.

According to their account online, they arrived at Dublin Airport “hours ahead” of their flight, and after hectic delays, missed their flight.

The person claims to have been flying with Aer Lingus - an airline that has been dealing with plenty of issues over recent weeks - and didn’t meet their time restrictions on arrival at the check-in desk.

The person travelling said they were “denied” their boarding card because there was a mere 70 minutes until take-off - and there is a 75-minute cut-off time.

However, the account went on to say that the reason they were so delayed in getting to the desk was down to the reams of people queuing in the terminal for the same airline.

On Twitter, they wrote: “Arrived at Dublin airport hours ahead and still missed my flight because of this mess by @AerLingus.

“Was denied a boarding pass 70 minutes ahead of departure time because it’s supposed to be 75 minutes. After standing in line hours.”

In an unexpected twist, the passenger said Aer Lingus made new - and better - arrangements for their travels, leaving them with a longer holiday.

The post read: “Came out ahead: Got booked on a previously unavailable direct flight and now arrive four hours earlier.”

As delays at Dublin Airport continue to hit headlines, a daa spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “No passenger who has heeded our travel advice has missed a flight due to queues at security in recent weeks.

“Indeed, through the month of June so far, 93% of passengers have got through security in less than 45 minutes, with 77% getting through in less than 30 minutes.”

As the summer season heats up and thousands of passengers get ready to head to sunnier climates, Airport officials continue to ask passengers to abide by the existing advice.

“All departing passengers are advised to arrive at the airport 2.5 hours before a short-haul flight and 3.5 hours prior to a long-haul flight, with an additional one hour advised if checking in a bag,” the spokesperson said.

For those who have any issues on arrival to queue, there are dedicated staff standing by to help out.
