A grandad from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, has taken on a gruelling journey travelling to the Acrtic in brazing conditions to raise awareness and funds for Diabetes UK.

Adrenaline junkie, Brian Thomson, has raised up to £50,000 as he globe-trotted to the Arctic, braving wild conditions in aid of a charity close to his heart after his daughter Hayley was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Brian, 58, has spent the last decade travelling the globe seeking out action-packed adventures in an effort to raise awareness and donations for Diabetes UK, reports the Daily Record.
