A ‘lovable old gent’ Patterdale Terrier is searching for his new chance at a loving home.
Rusty is an older terrier, aged between 10 and 12 years, and is described as a sweet and affectionate wee man.
He may be an older boy with adorable grey hairs but that doesn’t stop this handsome chap playing with - and destroying - toys, in true terrier fashion.
He is currently being cared for by the Scottish SPCA Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.
Scottish SPCA officers say he would benefit from an adult-only home that can give him all the love, attention and an “endless supply” of toys.
A Scottish SPCA spokesperson said: “He is still young at heart so don’t let his grey hairs fool you!
“He loves to chase toys and, like most terriers, he enjoys destroying them too so he’d love an endless supply in his new home.
“Rusty can be wary of men so he would benefit from anyone male in his new home to be willing to come and do several meets at the centre to gain his trust.
“He would also be best suited to a home that has direct access to a secure garden as he likes to have somewhere to explore off-lead.
“He can be reactive towards other dogs when out and would prefer to be the only pet in the household.”
The charity spokesperson added that Rusty has a heart murmur, which will need to be taken into consideration by any new adopters. It may be excluded from insurance policies.
