Adorable moment Edinburgh girl invited on stage at Meadows Festival

An adorable video has been shared with Edinburgh Live showing the moment a young girl was invited on stage after she drew an impressive picture of the lead singer.

The Smoking Jeffery’s were performing on the stage at the Meadows Festival on Sunday June 4 when Chelsea McMillan, eight, from Dumbiedykes, drew a picture of the lead singer in their kilt.

Her drawing impressed the band so much that she was invited onto the stage as a backing dancer whilst the group performed one of their tunes.

Chelsea was visiting the Festival with mum Melissa Matthews, who says that her daughter has always had a keen interest in art.

The creative young whipper snapper quickly stole the show with those in the audience flocking to donate to the band.

Many of them would later approach Chelsea in the crowd after she left the stage to give her a congratulatory handshake.

Mum Melissa said: “Chelsea is very much into her art, she always has ideas for drawing or making something from nothing.

“She did a drawing of the main singer of the Smoking Jeffery’s and afterwards they asked her up on stage and managed to dance along to the whole song.

“The public were all cheering for her and loads came up after her and donated to the band.

“People were also coming up after the performance and shaking her hand, telling her how well she had done.

“Chelsea was very happy with her wee self and it made me feel very proud.”

The Meadows Festival has taken place in the city centre across the weekend of June 4 & 5 2022.
