Adorable ferret plays peek-a-boo as search continues for forever home

This adorable video of a rescued ferret showing off his hide and seek skills has been capturing the hearts of viewers.

Little Freddy arrived at Scottish SPCA’s Ayrshire rehoming centre last year after he was found straying.

He was sadly in a poor condition and was found to be underweight and covered in ticks and sores, making SPCA officers believe he may have been straying for quite some time.

Fortunately Freddy, who is now on the hunt for his forever home, has recovered well with a clean bill of health and has flourished into a confident and playful wee guy.

A Scottish SPCA spokesperson said: “He is always out of his bed as soon as he hears us in the morning to have a wee nosy, some attention and, of course, his breakfast.

“He does enjoy cosying up in his wee bed during the day, curled under his layers of blankets but, again, when he hears you, you are sure to see his wee face keeking out the bed pretty quickly.

“Once out and about for his enrichment and handling time, his playful personality completely shines through.

“He loves running about, ducking away and playing our own wee version of peek-a-boo.

“This boy certainly loves interacting with humans.”

Freddy is generally happy to be picked up and interacted with, but, as with most ferrets, he has the potential to nip if handled incorrectly, if he gets a bit fed up, or even if he possibly gets overly excited at playtime.

Freddy will need a large enclosure with plenty of toys and enrichment to keep him occupied as well as an owner who has the time to interact and play with him, as this is something he really enjoys.

He could potentially be rehomed with other ferrets pending a successful bonding process, however the adopter would need to have a separate enclosure for Freddy whilst this is ongoing and for the potential outcome of a failed bonding.
