Edinburgh’s colony of penguins have been put through their yearly medical by experts at the capital’s zoo.
Adorable shots from the wildlife conservation charity show the 100-strong crew of gentoo penguins receiving vaccinations and check ups under the watchful eye of keepers.
The birds - who welcomed nine cute new chicks last year - were found to be “doing well,” according to bosses at the attraction.

A sweet video shows the colony following zoo staff out of their enclosure before being picked up by medics to be checked over.
The well-behaved birds all kept calm as they were handled by vets ensuring they remain in good health.
All were then released back into their fenced off area to frolic in the pool in the capital sunshine.
According to experts, penguin species, including the gentoo, face many threats in the wild as a result of global warming, overfishing, marine pollution and habitat loss.
The zoo forms part of ’Project Pinnamin,’ a conservation project helping their northern rockhopper cousins in their native habitat.

An Edinburgh Zoo spokesperson said: “Over 100 penguins at the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland’s (RZSS) Edinburgh Zoo had their annual health check earlier this month.
“Once a year, keepers and vets at the wildlife conservation charity give the full colony vaccinations and health checks.
“This year’s catch up revealed all of the charity’s penguins are doing well.”
