Adorable dog who looks like 'little piglet' searching for new home

An adorable dog who looks like a 'little piglet' is searching for a new home after being rescued by an RSPCA inspector.

Penny, a Staffordshire bull terrier, has been described as a "beautiful pocket rocket" dog who would make the perfect pet.

She arrived at the RSPCA's Sheffield Branch through no fault of her own - but is ready to move in with a new owner.

A statement reads: "Penny is the perfect example of a little Staffy.

"She's into everything - can't be trusted with a teddy bear, loves her dinner, but most importantly, she adores to be with people - either having an adventure or giving you a huge Staffy kiss!

She loves spending time with people (RSPCA)

"She will also have a chat with you alongside putting in her demands. If she wants a sweetie she will stand and bark at the sweeties."

The 10-year-old can live with children of secondary school aged or younger children with dog experience. She cannot live with another dog or cats.

"She is like a little piglet and on the go quite a lot despite her age," the statement adds.

"So although she doesn't need to walk miles when left to her own devices, she can get up to mischief - and maybe have a cheeky nibble on something! She has stolen our doorstops before.

"This little lady is a bit of an escape artist and if something catches her nose she is off! She will also need a bit of support with her toilet training.

"Penny really will be a staffy lovers dream girl and she can be so affectionate and loving along with her cheeky side.

"We just want to find her a forever sofa where she can have all the toys and sweeties she desires and humans to boss around."

The RSPCA is urging people to adopt an animal in need rather than turning to breeders when wanting to welcome a pet into their family.

"While it may be easy to find animals on the internet or even spend hundreds on an expensive breeder, you could risk heartache or huge vet's bills if you don't do your homework," a statement reads.

"By adopting and not shopping you'll also feel good for doing good - by giving an animal a second chance at life in a loving home!

"Plus, adopting from us means that you can relax knowing that all our animals are healthy, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

"As with all the animals we rehome, we'll pass on the details of their behaviour and veterinary treatment. You'll likely know more about your rescue animal's history than if you were to buy an animal online!

"We've taken the time to get to know each animal as an individual, to understand their likes and dislikes and to prepare them for life in a loving family, which means there are less likely to be nasty surprises when you get home!

"When you adopt a cat or a dog from one of our centres, you'll also get four weeks free pet insurance, which is vital to protect your pet's future as well as your bank balance! There's so much to gain from rescuing an animal in need."

If you're interested in rehoming Penny, or any other dogs at the RSPCA's Sheffield Branch, contact their team on customerservices@rspcasheffield.org.
