Residents at a local Edinburgh care home transformed their hallway into a Winter Olympics venue this week, as they tried a hand at some of the sports.
An adorable clip from the Murrayside Care Home in the capital showed the group using mops and other props to recreate a curling event in the corridor.
Getting into the spirit, a number of residents had come out for the games, with onlookers cheering on their teammates from the side benches.
Inspired by Edinburgh Olympians Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds, residents showcased their competitive spirit during a game of curling in one of the home’s corridors, using household items, as well as a real curling stone.

The activity also gave many residents an opportunity to reminisce about their younger years enjoying winter sports and share their top curling and winter sports tips with others.
A special ‘winter photoshoot’ was also organised to commemorate the occasion, complete with a ski resort backdrop.
Sandra, a resident at Murrayside, said: “We had so much fun with the skis and skates – it brought lots of memories to the surface! We’d been cheering on the GB curling team too, so we decided to have a go ourselves. We had a great time.”
Suzanne Welsh, Home Manager at Murrayside, said: “Here at Murrayside, we know just how important physical activity is when it comes to overall wellbeing, so we always encourage residents to stay active – so our own Winter Olympics-themed activity was a great, topical way to do just that.
“Like any international event, the Olympics showcases our undisputed national pride while offering an opportunity to reminisce on past editions of the Games. With so many residents here fond of winter sports, it’s fair to say we all learnt a thing or two too.
“We’d like to say good luck to all of the British athletes – we certainly won a few medals of our own here!”
