A court has reinstated Adnan Syed's murder conviction and ordered a new hearing in the case, marking the latest twist in the drawn out legal drama chronicled in the hit podcast 'Serial'.
Though Syed's conviction has been reinstated, he will not immediately be taken back into custody after the victim's brother addressed the court voicing his devastation, saying: "This is not a podcast for me. This is real life."
Syed, 41, was convicted in 2000 of killing Hae Min Lee, his high school ex-girlfriend whose body was found in a makeshift grave after her disappearance in 1999. He spent over 23 years in jail, but always maintained his innocence.
