As we head into Tennis season in the UK, Adidas have launched their FW23 London Tennis Collection.
With Wimbledon around the corner, Adidas have turned their attention to producing a range that sticks to the traditional all white attire of The All England Lawn Tennis Club. The collection has been branded by Adidas as "a blend of traditional techniques and game-changing technology".
The range is also said to take inspiration from methods and fabrics favoured by London tailors such as single pleating and seersucker fabrics, which aim to honour the heritage and culture of the sport and city. Among the items available are a Women’s Dress Pro, Men’s Printed AEROREADY FreeLift T-Shirt, Women’s Pleat Skirt Pro and Women’s Pleated AEROREADY Skirt Pro and Men’s AEROREAY Short.
Annette Steingass, Senior Director of Tennis & Court Sports Apparel, said: “When designing our tennis collections, we always strive to honor the surface it will be worn on and the city it will be premiered in. For this collection, we took inspiration from tailors in London.
"We studied their unique techniques and then worked on combining those methods, that have withstood the test of time, with our technology. We’re excited to see our next gen athletes in the collection as they strive to inspire new traditions on and off the court this grass season.”
The range will be worn by such athletes including Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger Aliassime, Xinyu Wang, Sascha Zverev, Dana Mathewson, Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari and Martin de la Puente. Felix Auger Aliassime, said: “Grass season is very special to me. It is the surface tennis was first played on. The prestige that comes with that is something you feel as soon as you arrive in the city."
The collection comes in a colour palette of white with accents of lucid lime and lucid lemon and will feature in a size range of XS-2XL for men and 2XS-2XL for women. You can shop the range here.
