Adele Roberts has revealed her stoma prolapsed and had to be fixed at home with the help of her partner Kate Holderness.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ, 43, had been getting ready for Scott Mills' leaving party when the stoma prolapse happened.
Adele, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021, took to her Instagram Stories to share the news with fans.
She kept her followers updated throughout the day of Kate's efforts to fix the stoma, which Adele has nicknamed Audrey.
A stoma prolapse happens when the stoma comes out too far above the level of the skin. It can sometimes be fixed by using a different type of stoma bag, but more complex cases may require further surgery.
Adele posted a video on her social media as she tried to make light of the situation.
She said: "Another day another Audrey bit of mischief. My stoma's prolapsed today."
Adele then used an umbrella to help highlight how her stoma had changed in size. Kate tried to make Adele laugh from behind the camera, with the pair seemingly determined not to let the prolapse bring them down.
Adele added: "I've got to go and have a shower now, get this elephant trunk out, put ice on it. That's one thing that makes it go down, or apparently sprinkle it with sugar."
She said if all else failed she would have to call her stoma nurse for help.
Adele added that she was hoping to attend Scott Mills' leaving party, which was held later that day to mark the DJ's final day at BBC Radio 1.
Kate then posted a snap of herself ready to cover Adele's stoma with sugar after reading that it could help online.
She captioned the post: "STOMA SUGAR. Just in case we can’t make your leaving party @realscottmills & @chrisstark.
"Current situation is trying to pop @adeleroberts’ small intestine back inside her body (her stoma has prolapsed & apparently sugar helps?!)…enjoying your show whilst we perform this backstreet operation #Loveyoubye."
Shortly after, Adele posted a video revealing the sugar had worked its magic.
In the clip, she said: "It looked like Jack the Ripper had got me. It pulled my intestines out."
Kate laughed but added: "It was really scary. I was really scared, I freaked out."
Adele was diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021 and went on to have a tumour surgically removed. In June, she announced that she was officially cancer free after months of treatment.
