Adele Roberts has thanked Dame Deborah James for her strength after the inspirational campaigner's death was announced on Tuesday.
The brave star's loved ones shared the sad news that the mum-of-two had died at the age of 40 via a statement on social media, following a five-year battle against stage four bowel cancer.
BBC Radio 1 DJ Adele, 43, said her 'heart hurts' in the wake of Deborah's death as she paid tribute to the late star just days after she celebrated being cancer-free.
The former Big Brother star has provided updates on her health since announcing that she had been diagnosed with the bowel cancer on social media in October last year, and on Monday told her fans she had been given the all-clear by doctors.
"The day I've been waiting for. Hearing the words 'you're free of cancer' absolutely took my breath away. I keep replaying it in my mind," Adele told her Instagram followers as she shared her happy news online.
But on Tuesday night the radio host took to her page to express her sadness at Deborah losing her battle against the deadly disease.
"My heart hurts [heartbroken emoji]," Adele began captioning a snap of the late podcast presenter.
"Thank you for everything Deborah. Thank you for being so strong for so long and helping others when you were in so much pain yourself.
"You are the best of us. Thinking of your family and friends and I am forever grateful to you for helping me and my family [love-heart emoji]."
Adele signed off with a nod to Deborah's mantra, writing: "Rebellious hope forever."
Deborah's death was announced on her BowelBabe Instagram on Tuesday evening.
The post read: "Dame Deborah James.
