Adele Roberts gives brave health update and says she almost 'lost use of her bottom'

Adele Roberts appeared on Good Morning Britain on Friday to give fans an update on her cancer battle.

The 42-year-old radio presenter confirmed in October last year that she had been diagnosed with bowel cancer and was undergoing treatment.

Joining hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway in the ITV studio, Adele was joined by her partner Kate Holderness as she spoke about how she's currently coping.

"It was a shock, I didn't realise that I could get cancer and I know that sounds silly because I now know it can happen to anyone at any age," Adele told Ben and Kate.

"But I was pretty much vegetarian, I ran all the time, I tried to keep fit and well and eat the right things and I just started to notice that my digestion started to get a bit funny."

Adele continued: "I feel like I've still not really taken it onboard. I feel like I'm just trying to get through each day. Luckily I got told on the 1st of October and on the 25th of October they managed to remove the tumour, which was incredible. The NHS have been awesome.

"And then I was able to get back into a good routine, get back to Radio One and get on chemotherapy, and hopefully, I see the chemotherapy as my little snipers getting rid of anything that might be left, and hopefully by the middle of this year, I'll be back to normal and back to my old self," Adele added.

Since being diagnosed just 16 weeks ago, Adele has undergone surgery, a stoma and chemotherapy.

Her partner Kate explained: "It was quite hard with Covid as well because when Adele went into hospital, she couldn't have any visitors."

Asked about her prognosis now, Adele replied: "So far I believe they've managed to remove all of the tumour, which is great news. It was in a really tricky place so I could have lost the use of my actual bottom.

"So they've managed to save my bottom. I've got a stoma in the meantime which I've named Audrey," she added.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
