Adani acquires 50% stake in drone major to enter domestic agriculture sector

NEW DELHI: Adani Defence Systems and Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) will acquire 50% stake in Bengaluru-based commercial drone player General Aeronautics for an undisclosed sum to provide “end to end solutions to domestic agriculture sector.”

ADSTL is a wholly owned subsidiary of billionaire Gautam Adani’s Adani Enterprises and is now expanding its presence in the commercial drone space after establishing a foothold in the defence sector here.

“…we would like to inform you that ADSTL has signed definitive agreement to acquire 50% stake in General Aeronautics on May 27, 2022…. ADSTL shall leverage its military drone and AI capabilities and work with General Aeronautics for providing end to end solutions to domestic agriculture sector,” Adani Enterprises said in a regulatory filing Friday.

General Aeronautics is an end-to-end agri platform solution provider, based out of Bengaluru, India and incorporated in 2016.

It provides robotic drones and drone based solutions for crop protection services, crop health, precision-farming and yield monitoring using artificial intelligence and analytics for the agricultural sector.
