Adama Traore makes transfer admission after first Premier League goal in nine months

Adama Traore has admitted he wants to join a Spanish club after scoring his first Premier League since January on Tuesday evening.

The Spain international, 26, found the net in Wolves ' 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. The result leaves the manager-less side in serious trouble, sitting one point and one place above the drop zone having played a game more than Southampton in 18th.

Traore is back at Wolves after spending the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona, the club where he made his professional debut in November 2013. He has just eight months remaining on his existing deal and speculation around his future is growing.

When asked by AS if he wants to return to Spain, Traore said: "Yes of course. Spain is the country that I love and where I was born. It is very clear, but everything in its time.

"I returned to Barcelona for a few months because it is a decision I made, I had other options but I went back there and helped and I will surely return. I don't know where, but I'm sure I'll be back one day. Right now I am focused on the season and continue to grow."

Traore has made six Premier League appearances for Wolves this season and will be keen to remind everyone of his qualities ahead of his contract's expiration date. He's impressed at the West Midlands club before, which is why Barcelona were keen to re-sign him.

The winger's return to the Camp Nou didn't go to plan, as he failed to score in 17 games. He didn't find a new club in the summer and will now need to focus on dragging Wolves out of danger - and making Spain's World Cup squad - before thinking about his future.

When asked if he feels forgotten about, Traore said: "[I feel] good. Well, I had an injury at the beginning of the season, I haven't been able to have a good preseason. I relapsed from another injury, but they are taking care of me and I am starting to play.

"At the moment I have not played the 90 minutes in any game because they want me to go progressively, but I am happy for the three games I have played at the beginning and also last week I helped the team with a penalty and this week with the goal."

Speaking after Wolves' defeat to Palace, caretaker boss Steve Davis said: "If we had started the second half better, it could have been a different result. We started slow, they put us under pressure and then we didn't re-group.

"We need to learn to ride that period through because if we had then it might have been a different result. I'm disappointed but happy with a lot of aspects of the game.

"Our shape and plan was good, but they pushed higher in the second half and defensively we didn't handle their break. On the whole I can't fault the spirit and we gave it our best go. Spirit is something we've got to find more of."
